Arsenal play their third game in a week on Saturday, travelling to Deepdale for a Third Round FA Cup clash with Preston North End. Arsene Wenger has given his regular pre-match press conference and the team news for the clash is slightly mixed.
“We might have a problem with Lucas Perez,” Wenger confirmed. “He injured his ankle and we’ll see how he’ll respond.
“Everyone else should be available. Coming back, the closest is Walcott but he will not be ready, Gibbs will not be ready.”
So a couple of first-team players are set to miss out, and Wenger confirmed that a few may be rested too.
“We play with 90% of the first team squad. I will rest Koscielny because he came off. Ospina will play, and perhaps Sanchez I will rest as well but the remainder will play.”

Despite, Wenger did give some good news on the injury front. Danny Welbeck hasn’t played this season but the forward is back in training and the boss was asked if he could feature against Preston.
“I haven’t decided yet but could be, it depends on Perez and how he feels, physically. His fitness is at a good level but the ideal way is to give him 2-3 games in the under-23 but the situation
“He wants to play but Danny is conscious as well. He came back after a long injury and had a setback. He listens well to people who advise him but he wants to play.”
Wenger later confirmed that it was more likely for Welbeck to feature from the bench but it’s good news for Arsenal fans. The Englishman is a useful player and has been a match-winner in the past. Hopefully, he can get some minutes on Saturday and get fit enough to make an impact in the Premier League.
