Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has explained what the club must do to keep hold of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The influential duo are in the final 18 months of their current deals and are yet to agree extensions, which has prompted huge speculation over their futures.
While both players have insisted they are happy at the club, they are still to put pen to paer and Cech feels the club must show them they are competitive and desperate to win titles.
“I think for us it is important to show them how much we need them in the team and to show them how much we want to win,” he told Standard Sport.
“Then obviously it will make their decision easier. If they see that we are competitive, everybody is ready to win things together and they know how important they are for our team, then this will make their decision easier.”
Arsenal coasted to a 4-0 win over Swansea City at the weekend but remain eight points behind leaders Chelsea in the title race.

Arsene Wenger has suggested he will not be looking to strengthen the club in January and Cech insisted the current crop of players are good enough.
“On Saturday we were missing players due to injury and so they are all basically close to fitness and back to the squad, apart from Santi [Cazorla], who will need a little bit more time.
“If everyone is fit then we have a strong squad. So this is probably why the boss said what he said. It is his decision. We concentrate on our game and then we train. If he brings in a player or not, that is his decision.”
Arsenal’s priority in January must surely be getting Ozil and Sanchez to stay, rather than targeting new players, with the duo crucial to the club’s hopes of success.
