Arsene Wenger has confirmed that another Arsenal midfielder has suffered an injury setback. Santi Cazorla has been out for some time and the boss confirmed that the Spaniard won’t return in February as was previously expected (via Arsenal.com).
Even at 32, Santi Cazorla is a key player for this Arsenal team. The Spaniard was in exceptional form during the early part of the season and the midfielder’s injury directly affected the side’s form.
The Spaniard had surgery on the Achilles injury which had been affecting him and despite early reports that he would be out for three months, Arsene Wenger believes it will be even longer.
Cazorla was due to return to the Arsenal team in early February but Gooners may have to wait even longer to see the little Spaniard in action again.
“At the moment, he’s far away,” Wenger confirmed. “It’s not going as quickly as I imagined. He won’t come back in January, it could be a bit longer.
“At the moment, I don’t really know. He’s not planned to go outside and run. When a player goes outside and runs, you count 6 weeks [until he’s back].”

Based on Wenger’s estimations, it could be two months before we see Cazorla back in action. Arsenal take on Liverpool on March and that could be a realistic return date for the Spaniard. Hopefully, things go well and we’ll see Santi Cazorla back as soon as possible.
