Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has confirmed he will miss Monday night’s FA Cup fifth round clash at Sutton United.
The 26-year-old has been expected to feature at Gander Green Lane, as he continues his recovery from a long injury-layoff, with the Gunners taking on the lowest ranked side left in the competition.
However, Welbeck featured for Arsenal’s Under-23 side on Sunday, playing for 70 minutes as the Gunners lost 2-1 to Leicester City.
He then took to Twitter after the game to reveal he would not play against Sutton due to the artificial pitch they use.
Glad to get 70 minutes today to build up my match fitness. Plastic pitch at Sutton isn't the best idea at the moment. #COYG

Welbeck’s only start for Arsenal this season came in the last round as Arsene Wenger’s side thrashed Southampton 5-0 with the former Manchester United man scoring twice.

His last appearance come as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over Hull City although he was on the bench for the midweek defeat to Bayern Munich.
Wenger is expected to rotate his team for Monday’s clash although he claimed in Friday’s pre-match press conference that he would not make too many changes.
Laurent Koscielny is expected to miss out due to injury while Aaron Ramsey is still sidelined and Lucas Perez is also a doubt due to injury.
The absence of both Perez and Welbeck could mean that Oliver Giroud starts the game up front while fellow Frenchman Mathieu Debuuchy is being tipped to make a surprise return in defence.
