Reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal are set to beat Spurs in the race for Sampdoria’s 21-year-old forward Patrik Schick. The striker has bagged seven goals in his 23 matches for the Italian club this season (via Gianluca Di Marzio).
A lot may be uncertain about Arsenal’s future but it seems that the club is stepping up its recruitment for next season.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Gunners are set to meet with the representatives of Sampdoria striker Patrik Schick. The forward is due in London but Arsenal face competition from North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Di Marzio claims that Arsene Wenger will attend the meeting with Schick’s agent before the forward’s representative has another sit-down with Spurs.
Schick only moved to Serie A at the start of last season from Czech side Sparta Prague but has performed well for the Italian side. The forward has nine goals in 26 matches and is the side’s second top scorer.
The report suggests that Schick has a release clause of €25m but that Spurs are only willing to pay up to €20m.

Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott have scored just five Premier League goals between them since the turn of the year. It’s clear that behind Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners need more goals. Patrik Schick seems like a good prospect and could potentially be a good signing, especially at that price.
