Barcelona have ruled out a move for Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri as they search for a replacement for Luis Enrique who will step down at the end of the season.
Reports had claimed that the Catalan giants had offered the Italian a three-year deal woth £20m to leave Turin and head for Camp Nou.
However, sporting director Robert Fernandez has now insisted there is no truth in the rumour and insists that his club are not interested in the Juve boss.
“It is not true that [Allegri] is coming,” he said via beIN SPORTS.
Indeed Fernandez revealed the club were more interested in Barcelona assistant Juan Carlos Unzue and Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde who is one of the favourites for the job.
“[Unzue] is someone who knows the club really well, including the system and the players, so he is prepared,” he added
“Valverde has had several good seasons, not just at Athletic Bilbao.”
The news will be a boost to Arsenal who are believed to be keen on Allegri should Wenger chose to step down at the end of the season.
The club are still awaiting an announcement from Wenger who has claimed he has made a decision on his future but is yet to reveal what it may be.
