Robert Pires believes Arsene Wenger will stay at Arsenal for at least another season but says the Frenchman needs to make major changes to his side.
The 67-year-old is yet to reveal his intentions for next season although there is a growing expectancy that he will opt to extend his current deal which expires this summer.
The Gunners have slipped to sixth in the Premier League table after an awful run of form that has also seen them crash out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich.
The mood around the club currently is very low and Pires, who is a regular at the Arsenal training ground, says the time is not right yet for Wenger to leave.
“In my opinion, he will renew his contract, at least for one season. He is motivated and willing,” Pires told Cadena Ser.
“Arsene has an offer on the table. He has to sign it. He has the backing of the president. The fans want to win the title and Arsenal are not doing that well. They are in the [FA] Cup semi-finals.”

However, Pires is well aware that of the discontent surrounding the club at the moment and feels that Wenger has to implement change if next season is to be more successful.
“He has to continue and if he does, he needs to change many things,” he added.” That is the most important thing for him and for Arsenal. We will see what happens.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday with a visit from Manchester City, in a game the Gunners can ill-afford to lose if they are to secure a top-four finish.
