Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has said he would welcome the chance to work with Alexis Sanchez again. Sampaoli and Sanchez worked together during the manager’s four years in charge of the Chilean national team, winning the 2015 Copa America (via The Evening Standard).
This is going to be a very important summer for Arsenal Football Club. From the future of its manager to the futures of some of its star players, the Gunners are under a lot of pressure to get things right.
One of the biggest stories is the future of Alexis Sanchez. This season’s top goalscorer and the star player in Arsene Wenger’s side has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season. Juventus is a club which have a reported interest in the 28-year-old but now, it seems, there is another team wanting in on the act.
Sevilla are managed by Sanchez’s former boss for the Chilean national team, Jorge Sampaoli and now the 56-year-old has publically stated his desire to work with the Arsenal man again.
“It would be great to have the chance one day [to coach Sanchez],” Sampaoli said. “He is a top, top player.
“I was lucky to share a time with him in the national team. We went to a World Cup together, we won the Copa America with him in the side as well, it was a very satisfying period of my career and it was great to share it with Alexis.

“He is one of the best strikers in the world and, irrespective of the fact his team aren’t going through a good patch of form at the moment, I think they have the right kind of player there who can change things for them.
“Hopefully, they depend on him to change things around in that team.”
Sampaoli didn’t exactly say that he wanted to bring Sanchez to Sevilla with him, that seems like a long shot. The Spanish club probably doesn’t have the financial clout or prominence to match Sanchez’s ambition but it’s not out of the question that it could be elsewhere. Sampaoli has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and FC Barcelona in the summer so we will have to wait and see whether he gets his wish.
