Arsenal have reportedly won the race to sign Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac this summer, with the Bosnia international signing a pre-contract agreement with the club, fending off interest from a host of top European clubs.
Chelsea were thought to have failed with a move for the tough-tackling defender in January, whose contract expires at the end of the campaign, while the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus have been credited with interest in Kolasinac.
But according to Bosnian media outlet Reprezentacija, the Schalke star has signed a deal with the Gunners, has even chosen his shirt number and been given assurances Arsene Wenger will be in charge next season.
Known to be a combative defender, Kolasinac is known as the ‘Destroyer’, ‘Hulk’ and ‘Tank’ which would be a welcomed addition to Arsenal’s lightweight backline.
For free, you can hardly argue this anything but a positive deal especially with Liverpool fighting hard for his signature. Nacho Monreal has shown this season he is declining, and the writing has been on the wall for Kieran Gibbs for sometime.
He will likely take over Mathieu Debuchy’s No.2 shirt or Gibbs’ No.3 depending on his future, with Kolasinac’s current Schalke No.6 shirt occupied by Laurent Koscielny.
