Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has claimed Arsenal were interested in signing him last summer and admits he could have been tempted to move to north London.
The Belgium international has taken part in a video interview on Roma’s You Tube channel with Wojciech Szczesny where the duo discuss Nainggolan’s decision to stay at the club last year.
Nainggolan was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea one of several clubs rumoured to be interested, but claims interest from Arsenal before revealing why he opted to remain in the Italian capital.
Szczesny asks his team-mate: “In the summer you were linked with a lot of big teams and you chose to stay at Roma. Why?”
Nainggolan then replies: It was a choice of life. I like the lifestyle over here. There was Arsenal, but how you talk always about them maybe I should have joined them.”
Szczesny then risks the wrath of the Arsenal fans by telling the Belgian to stay where he is: “I think you should stay because you do a good job and, as much as I don’t like you, I don’t think you’re a bad player.”

It goes without saying that Nainggolan would have been a quality addition to the squad although it’s not clear how much interest Arsenal actually had in the Belgian.
