It’s been rumoured all summer long but Manchester City are reportedly set to make a £60 million bid for Alexis Sanchez.
According to the Telegraph, Pep Guardiola has told City to make an offer before the close of the transfer window at the end of this month.
City will offer the Chilean a deal worth £400,000-per-week, if they can persuade Arsenal to sell their talisman.
And that of course if the key part here, while the report claims Sanchez’s preference is to leave, it also states he could wait until the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger has been adamant that the club will not sell Sanchez, and has reiterated that stance many times, meaning any backdown now would be highly embarrassing for the Arsenal coach.
The prospect of strengthening a rival with, arguably, Arsenal’s best player is also surely a matter the club cannot seriously contemplate if they are to fight for the title this season.

Of course the problem is, that Sanchez is now in the final year of his contract, and Arsenal face the prospect of him leaving for free, potentially for Manchester City, in the summer if he does not renew before then.
He has shown no sign yet that he will commit his future to the club, and if City do bid, Arsenal will have a tough decision to make.
