Turkish side Trapanzspor have revealed that they held talks with Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer over a potential move (via The Evening Standard).
He wouldn’t have been the first Arsenal player to swap England for Turkey and move to the Turkish Super Lig.
Robin Van Persie, Lukas Podolski and Oğuzhan Özyakup have all spent time in the league in recent seasons and Jack Wilshere might have joined them.
Trapanzspor currently lie eighth in the Turkish Super Lig and now their club president has revealed that Wilshere held talks over a move to the club during the summer.
“I held direct talks with Jack Wilshere,” said president Muharrem Usta
“We wanted him on loan and were close to a deal but the move stalled at the last moment.”

It seems that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal decided to keep Wilshere at the club at the eleventh hour rather than lose him for another season on loan.
It’s nothing new to learn that Jack Wilshere almost left the club this summer but the links with Trapanzspor are a little out of nowhere. There aren’t many British players playing in Turkey and it seems that Jack Wilshere won’t be one of them anytime soon. However, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire next summer, his future is anyone’s guess.
