The BBC’s David Ornstein has revealed that a number of key players asked to leave Arsenal this window including Hector Bellerin and Shkodran Mustafi.
The more time passes and the more information is revealed, the worse this summer seems to have been for Arsenal Football Club.
There was the obvious disappointment on deadline day when we learned that Arsenal would not be making any reinforcements to their squad after the failed pursuit of Thomas Lemar.
Now, the BBC’s David Ornstein has revealed the extent of the problems which the club faced behind the scenes over the summer.

It turns out that Shkodran Mustafi actually asked to leave the club over the summer, as did Hector Bellerin following the reported interest from FC Barcelona.

Bellerin was halted but Mustafi was granted permission after the club was “disappointed” with his performances last season.
As well as that, Ornstein revealed that the club has not held contract talks with Mesut Özil for months and that there has been little interest from rival clubs wanting to sign the German.
It’s a fascinating insight into what looks like a completely improvised transfer window at Arsenal. There has been such little prior planning at the club in recent windows and the desperation on deadline day was clear to see. Serious change is needed and it needs to happen soon before there aren’t any players left at the Emirates.
