Arsenal’s new head of recruitment, Sven Muslintat has revealed why he joined the Premier League side from Borussia Dortmund (via The Mirror).
On paper, it seems like an excellent signing for Arsenal. The Gunners have announced that they have completed the deal to sign Sven Mislintat as the club’s new head of recruitment.
He’s nicknamed ‘diamond eye’ due to his incredible knack for finding exciting young players and is credited for scouting almost every top player to play for Dortmund in the last decade.
Now, Mislinat himself has revealed that an internal ban by former manager Thomas Tuchel led to his decision to swap the Bundesliga and Dortmund for the Premier League and Arsenal.
“I would probably never have thought of engaging with other clubs [had it not happened],” Mislintat told SportBild.
“The ban initiated by the former coach to enter the training ground and having to stay away from the inner circle of players, the staff, and many friends, with whom I have worked closely for years, greatly influenced my thinking.

“I have had offers in the years before, but never really thought about changing myself. I was born and raised here, I’ve been working for the club since 2006, I’m a Borussian through and through. ”
So, it appears that Mislintat’s signature represents quite a coup for the Gunners, as Arsene Wenger alluded to after his appointment was announced.
“We are delighted that Sven is joining us,” Wenger said in the official release statement.
“Identifying and developing talent is a core part of our philosophy and Sven has an outstanding track record over many years. We look forward to him taking our existing recruitment approach forwards.”
So, Sven Mislintat is now Arsenal’s new head of recruitment. The club is changing a lot behind the scenes and it seems that they are bringing in high level appointments to oversee the impending departure of Arsene Wenger in the coming years.
