Arsenal fell to fourth despite a game in hand to Chelsea as United came back for a draw. It was a nervy performance full of mistakes with two consecutive faults from Sagna lost us two points.
Wojciech Szczesny | 8.0: Made a brilliant save (and got a bit injured in the process) to deny Van Persie’s header, saved a close header from Rooney and Giggs’ attempt from the left flank. Couldn’t do much about Van Persie’s penalty.
Bacary Sagna | 3.5: This might be the performance that will seals Sagna’s destiny at Arsenal. His crosses were poor, he made a mistake and lost the ball just before Van Persie’s header that Szczesny saved and, to top off his awful first-half performance, he made two mistakes that led to an equalizer. First he made an awful back-pass that was picked by Van Persie and then he lunged stupidly at the Dutchman in the penalty box which led to the foul. He did some good things in the second half but was nearly sent off and gave away another chance to Manchester United just before Rooney had a drive saved by Szczesny. He was caught out of position before Giggs had a counter-attack. Walcott is to blame partially for Sagna’s terrible performance as Englishman provided no support to the French full-back. It might be a performance that will make Wenger sell Sagna or use him only as a central defender.

Per Mertesacker | 8.0: Dominated in the air and did his job in a way we expect him to do in every match.
Laurent Koscielny | 8.0: Was excellent again, very solid at the back dominating Van Persie and had nothing to do with the penalty conceded. Attempted a half-volley that could have been the winner but he sent it over the bar.
Kieran Gibbs | 7.0: Kept things under control in the defensive department but offered little when going forward. Still, he should have been given a penalty in the last moments of the game.
Mikel Arteta | 7.0: Did well in the midfield but didn’t offer too much for our attack.
Aaron Ramsey | 7.0: An action from second half exemplifies Ramsey’s performance today. First he gave away the ball in the opposition half only to track back to re-gain possession. He was excellent in the defensive department but made a lot of mistakes in attack. The crucial mistake was his decision to pass the ball to Podolski instead of releasing Walcott who was totally alone on the right flank when we had a 3 on 2 counter-attack.
Tomas Rosicky | 7.5: Lucky to grab himself an assist as Walcott was offside when he found him but the Czech midfielder was really our most creative force in the first half. Didn’t do much in the second half, though, and was substituted for Wilshere.
Theo Walcott | 6.5: He finally scored a goal but he should thank the linesman who didn’t notice he was offside. Was angry at Ramsey for ignoring him on the right flank when he could have sealed our victory. Still, apart from his goal, Walcott didn’t do much. He also failed to help Sagna in defence.
Santi Cazorla | 6.5: He can do a looooooooooooooot better than he did today. He had a few attempts from long distance but was mostly ineffective.
Lukas Podolski | 5.0: Had one shot when Ramsey released him on the left side but De Gea saved it. His fitness seems to be way below the level required for the Premiership.
Jack Wilshere | 6.5: Gave some balance and energy to our team when United took the game in their hands but failed to do anything worthy of s goal. He is still struggling to return to the form he had before the injury.
Gervinho | 6.0: Couldn’t do much after he was introduced in the last 20 minutes. Failed to beat Jones when dribbling or to make a successful assist for the overlapping Sagna.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | 6.5: Inserted some energy to our game but failed to make a real impact.
