Samuel Chukwueze has finally completed his long-touted move to Arsenal, with the Nigerian having his medical and finalising the £4m double deal that sees him make the move to north London alongside teammate Kelechi Nwakali, as reported by the Daily Star.
At just 16-years-old, he’s obviously yet to sign a professional contract, but will sign his first one when he turns 18 next year. He’s one of the brightest stars in Africa at the moment, and he and Nwakali were massive parts of the Nigeria youth team’s success at the Under 17s World Cup last summer. Nwakali captained the side to victory at the tournament, while Chukweuze chipped in with a number of hugely important goals and finished the competition as the top scorer.
Arsenal fans were obviously hoping to see some more senior signings arrive at the club this past January, but had to settle for Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian was our sole signing this transfer window, but it seems Arsene Wenger is still looking to strengthen our youth ranks.
We’d obviously love to see a more established star arrive at the Emirates, but who knows, one of these two teens could end up being the next Riyad Mahrez – a relative unknown who skyrockets to fame.
Arsenal transfer news
Hopefully the pair prove a booming success and we see them pushing for a spot on the first team soon. They both look like truly promising prospects, and Arsene Wenger may have gotten a real bargain by signing the two stars for just £4m.
