We have previously been linked with a move for PSG’s defensive midfield veteran Thiago Motta (via the Express), but unfortunately looked set to miss out.
We may well be back in the hunt for his signature however, with Spanish publication Marca claiming his touted move to Atletico Madrid has broken down.
We are badly in need of reinforcements in defensive midfield, with Francis Coquelin currently our only viable option. The Frenchman has arguably proven himself worthy of being first choice, but we have to ensure we have an adequate backup option in case of injury or loss of form.
Bringing a 32-year-old Motta to the club may allow Coquelin to keep his starting spot, but would also give us an excellent alternative to the 24-year-old.

He would also bring plenty of experience to the club and would be an excellent role model for our current crop of youngsters. He was a mainstay in PSG’s midfield for quite some time, and has been a huge part of their success. The Express’ report claims he is currently looking for a new challenge, and a move to the Premier League would certainly give him that.
