Arsene Wenger could be facing the chop if we lose against Hull in our FA Cup replay, so his job is very literally on the line this week, if the Express‘ report is to be believed.
Our clash with Hull came slap bang in the middle of our poor run, and we really struggled against them. This was despite Steve Bruce making a host of changes, which made the goalless draw all the more disappointing.
We unquestionably should have breezed past the Tigers, especially as it was at the Emirates. Now not only do we have a trickier game away from home, but we’ve given ourselves an extra fixture when that’s the last thing we need.
The club have stuck with Wenger through thick and thin, and rightfully so as far as many are concerned. He’s given a huge amount to Arsenal, and while trophies haven’t always been free-flowing, it’s hard to imagine many other managers doing what Wenger has done with the resources he’s done it with.
There are many who think it’s time he moved on though, and failure to beat Championship side Hull will apparently get them their wish.
While it’s hard to see the club reacting in a knee jerk way and sacking Wenger this season, it’s always possible that another Premier League failure (this year of all years) and an early FA Cup exit could lead to serious discussions at the end of the season.

He’s arguably done enough to ensure he leaves on his own terms, and if he fails to win anything this season he may well step down of his own accord.
Arsenal transfer news
It would be a shame to see Wenger leave and Arsenal certainly won’t be the same, but if we can find the right replacement then perhaps the time will be right.
Regardless of whether the reports are true though, losing against Hull would be an absolute travesty. If we don’t win the league this season then a third consecutive FA Cup would be a superb consolation prize, so we should be going all out.
