Arsene Wenger has revealed that he rested Jack Wilshere for the game against Lyon and confirmed that the midfielder will start against Wolfsburg on Sunday, he told reporters post-match (via Arsenal.com).
Wilshere was surprisingly not included in the squad on Saturday despite being heavily involved throughout pre-season, something which will have slightly worried fans given his injury record.
This season has been earmarked as a big one for Wilshere, considering that there looms large a major international tournament at the end of the campaign.
And thankfully, Wenger has allayed fears of any possible knock and confirmed that Wilshere will feature against Wolfsburg.

“I rested him today.”
A midfield trio of Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil were too hot to handle for Lyon and it will be interesting to see where Wenger deploys Wilshere.
We’ve seen the 23-year-old positioned on the wing in recent games but with the aforementioned trio likely to start on the bench, Wilshere could stake a claim for a central berth ahead of the new season.
Staying injury-free remains the key for Wilshere to show the world what he’s capable of doing.
