Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere have both spent months on the sidelines through injury, and neither player has made a single appearance this season. The duo are still in contention for a spot on England’s Euro 2016 Championships squad though, and have been included in a meeting held by England boss Roy Hodgson, as reported by talkSPORT.
Welbeck has been out since last April with a knee injury, with set-back after set-back meaning he’s only now close to making his return to action. We were all hoping to see him back and fit after being rested over the summer, but there was a fresh blow when he was ruled out once again shortly after the close of the summer transfer window (via the Mirror).
Wilshere hasn’t been out nearly as long, but still hasn’t been able to feature this season. The midfielder suffered an injury in training ahead of our Community Shield victory this season, and what initially seemed like a fairly minor injury turned into a serious issue (via The Telegraph).
Obviously their England careers are not the main concern for us, and really we just want to see them back in Arsenal colours. Both players are on their way back from injury now, and assuming no more set-backs should feature before the season’s end.
We’ve badly missed the squad depth the duo provide, especially with other injuries popping up in similar areas. The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, and Aaron Ramsey have all spent time on the sidelines this season, and there were periods when we were left seriously short in certain positions.

Hopefully their inclusion in the England gathering is a sign of good news and the pair will be back in action sooner rather than later.
