The Gunners will swap their interest in one Southampton star for another this month. Reports in the Daily Mail suggest that we’re unwilling to meet the Saints’ asking price for Morgan Schneiderlin, but that we could still be tempted into a bid for his teammate Victor Wanyama.
Arsenal transfer news
According to the Mail, Southampton want £25m for Schneiderlin, who was arguably their star player over the last twelve months as Ronald Koeman guided them to seventh place in the Premier League and a Europa League spot.
More worryingly, the Mail suggest we won’t make any major improvements to our squad this summer – as Arsene Wenger thinks we’re already capable of challenging for major honours with what we have. However, the Daily Mirror think we could still move for Wanyama, who would compete with Francis Coquelin for the defensive midfield role.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is the other name that the Mail suggests that we could add before the start of next season, as we look to find a permanent number one who will be reliable between the posts.
Would Cech and Wanyama be enough for us this summer – what do you think Gunners?
