Arsenal vice-captain Per Mertesacker has warned our rivals that we now have the structure capable of launching a sustained title bid next season, as reported by Arsenal Player.
Mertesacker has evolved into a leader over the past few years and is now one of the elder statesmen in the dressing room, further aided by his successful international career.
Alongside Laurent Koscielny, the two have formed one of the best partnerships in the Premier League and will definitely be crucial in any title challenge.
Mertesacker believes the strength around our squad is felt within the camp.
“We have a good structure and a good base,” the defender told our media channel.

“We’ll try to build on that. We have a good squad, we won’t lose key players, so that’s good consistency.
“The squad will be in a good mood and in good fitness. We have to be because there are plenty of competitors for the title.”
Mertesacker was an ever-present for us last season, and after struggling in the opening months he regained his form when partnered alongside Koscielny. Hopefully the duo remain injury free for the entirety of the campaign, and we retain our defensive solidity across the 2015/16 season.
With Mikel Arteta still struggling with his long-term fitness, Mertesacker may be tasked with leading us throughout next season from the heart of the defence.
