With the news that Chelsea have signed Brazilian Willian from Anzi, reports are suggesting Juan Mata may look to leave to secure regular game time – inevitably he has been linked with the Gunners.
The Spanish international who almost joined Arsenal before moving to the Blues is not yet an automatic selection under Mourinho despite picking up Chelsea’s Player of the Season awards for two consecutive years.
The Mirror are suggesting Willian will join Oscar and Hazard as part of Mourinho’s go-to midfield trio, leaving Mata a bit-part player and Arsenal may come calling.
It seems crazy that Chelsea have brought in yet another midfielder with their options absolutely stacked in the creative department, they are obviously compensating for the lack of a superstar striker Mourinho craves.
But to sell Mata seems even more crazy, the Portuguese manager has declared he will not sell the Spaniard and for good reason as he is an exceptional player. Should he request a transfer (again, it seems unlikely with Willian yet to actually arrive and prove his ability in England) Chelsea would not sell to United and the Gunners would then have a shot. But it seems highly unlikely.

A more likely transfer target seems to be Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria who Marca believe the Gunners are moving for. Gareth Bale is set to be unveiled very shortly meaning the Argentine winger will certainly struggle to play. He IS the calibre if player we need.
