Arsenal Ladies showed the men how its done by securing a historic treble by lifting the Continental Cup after a 4-1 win over Birmingham City. Laura Harvey’s side added yet another trophy to their Super League and FA Cup haul as goals from Ellen White, Jayne Ludlow and a brace from Rachel Yankey sealed their first win over the Blues this season.
The team paraded the inaugural FAWSL Championship Trophy at Emirates Stadium during half-time of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Swansea City a few weeks ago, after holding of Birmingham City Ladies to become the first ever winners of the new Super League, and the FA Women’s Cup after beating Bristol Academy 2-0 back in May.
It caps an incredible season for the Gunners who, once again, have proved themselves to be the dominant force in the women’s game in England, as they sealed the 36th major honour in the Club’s history. Congratulations to the Arsenal Ladies squad, an inspiring effort that illustrates Arsenal’s dominance throughout the clubs ranks (despite the first team…for now).
