Although Rennes’ star midfielder Yann M’Vila has caught the eye of many of Europe’s top clubs, Rennes’ President Frederic de Saint-Sernin has revealed that no concrete offers have been made for the want-away star.
Obviously M’Vila has been linked with a move away from Rennes for a while now, with much of the speculation centering around a possible move to Arsenal.
Frederic de Saint-Sernin is quoted as saying by Goal.com:
We have an agreement with him that allows him to leave this summer, but we have not yet received any concrete offers for him.
Several clubs have enquired about him, but there are no formal offers. He is still a Rennes player. Several big foreign clubs are interested, but we are not blocking anything as there are no offers yet.
While M’Vila has plenty of talent, the young Frenchman has been in the media lately for the wrong reasons mainly concerning his behaviour, which includes a spat with Laurent Blanc in Euro 2012 and multiple run-ins with the law.
Although it is a black mark on his off-field record, personally I am only concerned with what he can do on the field and based on his footballing ability he would be a great player for Arsenal. Whether Arsenal are willing to cough up the reported £15-17m needed for his services is a whole other story however.
What do you guys think? Would M’Vila’s off-field antics have a significant negative impact on the dynamics of the team? Should we keep away from him for these reason? Feel free to leave a comment below or discuss M’Vila in the allArsenal.com forums.
