Arsenal’s first choice centreback Thomas Vermaelen is finally making decent progress in his recovery, and is not too far away from a return to action.
Wenger last week mentioned that he will not be straight back in the squad until after the international break, but perhaps one or two weeks later, however Vermaelen has taken to twitter to give us Gooners some positive news:
Great step forward today. First run outside without any pain or discomfort. Hopefully i can make good progress this week.
Vermaelen’s return will be massive for Arsenal, he will help to shore up the defence and hopefully develop a strong partnership with either Koscielny or Mertesacker. Surely Wenger will choose the German to partner TV5 as he adds height to the backline and technically is a decent player, however he rarely uses his height to his advantage is demonstrated on Sunday.
