Serge Aurier has hit the headlines recently after an outburst directed at his PSG teammates and their manager Laurent Blanc. We’re apparently looking to take advantage of the situation with a summer bid, as Arsene Wenger believes he can get the Ivorian on the cheap, according to reports in Spain (via the Daily Star).
The right-back blasted a number of players and his manager – whom he called a ‘faggot’ – in an ill-advised rant, and has subsequently been suspended indefinitely. Paris Saint-Germain are apparently contemplating terminating his contract, although they’re hopeful they can find some way of recouping some of the transfer fee paid for the 23-year-old.
Aurier would obviously be available on a bosman if the Ligue 1 giants were to terminate his current deal, which would leave him free to join any club that would take him. The report suggests that may not happen though, and that Arsenal will make a £12m move for him this summer if he’s still tied to PSG.
Aurier really caught everyone’s eye at the World Cup two years ago, with Arsene Wenger clearly a fan. We were beaten to the punch by PSG, but the report obviously suggests the manager will be renewing his interest come the end of the season.
While Aurier is a top quality right-back, it’s hard to see Wenger wanting to sign someone who has just publicly criticised his manager and teammates the way Aurier has.

On paper it would seem like a good move, as we unquestionably need back-up for Hector Bellerin. It’s hard to see this move happening though, as Wenger puts a huge amount of stock in the team cohesion.
