Transfer rumours are starting to roll in thick and fast now with the summer transfer window fast approaching. The Gunners have already wrapped up the signing of Lukas Podolski, and now reports are suggesting Wenger is targeting a new defender, perhaps the heavily linked Jan Vertonghen or now the 21-year-old Basel defender Aleksandar Dragovic who has today revealed Arsenal’s interest.
According to the FC Basel defender, who only joined the Swiss champions last year, there are seven different clubs interested in his signature, including Arsenal, Inter Milan, Dortmund and Marseille.
Dragovic told Kurier:
On the names of the clubs there is some truth. With the exception of Barcelona.
There are seven teams interested, two of which are from Russia. They would be very financially lucrative, but I am not looking for the most money.
My contract runs until 2015, so if a club wants me, they’ll have to put a bit of money on the table.

Also I feel very comfortable here and in 18 months here I have developed twice as much as I could have done in Austria.
The club must at least be represented in the Europa League. For with Basel I have the chance to play in the Champions League.
The young defender has certainly been a hit since joining the Swiss outfit, and enjoyed a real taste of English football when his side faced Manchester United in the Champions League qualifiers. He made his international debut as an 18 year old and is linked to a whole host of clubs for a reason.. He has a big future ahead, but he will come at a high cost.
Will Wenger be genuinely interested in acquiring the Austrian’s services? The Gunners currently have a talented crop of young defenders in Kyle Bartley (on-loan with Rangers) and Ignasi Miquel not to mention the likes of Koscielny, Vermaelen, Mertesacker and Djourou in the frame. While many fans are expecting Vertonghen to be announced as an Arsenal player any day now, it seems unlikely that Wenger will actually buy another centreback unless Djourou is sold which will not happen.
So unfortunately we can only dismiss the link with Aleksandar Dragovic as just a rumour and nothing more..
