Gunners target Mario Gotze has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2016, effectively ending any speculation that he will leave the Bundesliga giants this summer.
The 19-year-old has been constantly linked with a summer move to Arsenal as they look to resurrect their attacking midfielder options after the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir N***i last summer, however the German starlet has committed his future to Dortmund.
Everyone knows how comfortable I am at Dortmund. I want to be part of the club’s development.
Of course I can imagine extending my contact at Dortmund. I have always said how at home I feel here, and nothing has happened to change that.
I have my family and friends here, and the whole Borussia Dortmund package with the coach and the team is simply outstanding.
You could see from a mile that Gotze was not to be an Arsenal player next season not just because he initially committed his immediate future to Dortmund, but because Arsenal have an abundance of midfielders.
The Gunners recently bought Dortmund starlet Thomas Eisfeld who should enter the first team frame next season and Wenger has both Rosicky and Ramsey competing to play the attacking midfielder role, not to mention the likes of Wilshere, Arteta and Oxlade-Chamberlain that can play in that role too.

Don’t get me wrong Mario Gotze would be a huge asset and a more worthwhile transfer than Eden Hazard, but it just was not going to happen. The main acquisitions this summer will be upfront and out wide.
