According to numerous sources, Arsenal have had a bid believed to be in the region of £5 rejected for 17 year-old starlet and current Caen player M’Baye Niang.
The youngster is tipped to be the next big thing in football and is said to have impressed Wenger in a successful trial at London Colney last week.
While it is expected that Arsenal will improve their bid in the coming days, a host of top clubs have been linked with the Niang including the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham.
Club President Jean-Francois Fortin is quoted as saying by Goal.com:
It [the bid] is not derogatory, but it’s not what we want.
While the young French striker only scored 2 goals in 23 appearances for Caen last season, it can only be expected of a young 17 year-old in a mediocre team who could not avoid relegation.
With the likes of Manchester City also on the radar, securing the services of the young France under-21 international could be a difficult prospect, especially considering the resources at City’s disposal.
What do you guys think of Niang? Should Wenger go for him? Feel free to leave a comment below!
