The Ivorian has struggled to become a regular starter, fluctuating in and out of form throughout the past two seasons since his £10.8m move from Lille in 2011. Reports have recently suggested he is seeking a loan spell away from North London, with Marseille the latest club interested.
Gervinho still has a high reputation in France that has also seen Lyon enquire over his services. Now it is Marseilles turn as they attempt to lure the winger-come-striker back across the Channel with the promise of an initial payout to the Gunners.
Initially a deal would be on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. While the player himself wants to battle for his place in North London, Arsene Wenger may look to offload the struggling African who has constantly disappointed when his fortunes seemed to have changed.
Unfortunately the 26-year-old struggles with his decision making, woeful shooting and poor touch. He has a brilliant hardworking attitude, enjoys running at defenders using his pace and skill however the end product seems to continually end in frustration.
If the Gunners get a chance to offload him they should sign straight away, he still has the ability to play in the Premier League and would suit a club like Newcastle (no offence, just would suit their style of play), but he is not Arsenal material.
