The current South Korean captain who plays for recently relegated French team Monaco was expected to have signed for Lille, but it has been reported that Arsenal have swooped in to hijack that deal that was very close to completion with Park set for the second part of his medical.
Lille president Michel Seydoux said on the situation: “We haven’t had a telephone call, nothing. From what we understand he could be at Arsenal.
“Like Monaco, Lille are baffled, everything [about his move] had been agreed.”
With both Gervinho and Chamakh set to go to the African Cup of Nations in January, Wenger has been adament about strengthening attack saying: “We lose Gervinho and Chamakh together so, first of all, it is important to strengthen up front. It is important that we find one midfielder and one defender as well. So we are still short of three bodies.”
Although a deal that would see attack strengthened in the absence of our African players, you can’t say that the sudden swoop for a player on the verge of signing for Lille isn’t going to significantly dent our hopes of signing target Eden Hazard.

The swoop is a huge indication the gunners have given up on the Belgian maestro with Lille saying on multiple occasions that he is not for sale at any price, which would be disappointing indeed.
What do you think? Has Arsenal conceded defeat in trying to land Hazard? Or are they trying to milk Lille of all the quality they possess?
