Arsenal brushed aside a poor Stoke City side as we record our first home victory of the season and allay fears of our goalscoring potential at the Emirates Stadium after a dominant 2-0 victory.
Theo Walcott opened the scoring in the first half after latching on to a wonderful long pass from Mesut Ozil and the England man took the ball wonderfully before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
We should’ve realistically been four goals up at half-time with Alexis Sanchez hitting the post twice in the space of 10 minutes while Walcott missed a guilt-edged chance with his head.
Thankfully, we wouldn’t come to rue those missed opportunities after hanging onto our lead with Olivier Giroud making the game safe with a smart header late on.
Arsenal news & rumours
The number of chances we missed may be the only concern for Arsene Wenger following the game and the boss will understand that we cannot afford such profligacy in front of goal on a weekly basis.
