Despite the transfer window being solidly closed, Arsenal target & Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler has ruled out a January move and has admitted the Bundesliga club refused to allow him to leave during the summer.
The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for a number of seasons and was quoted as saying he wanted to leave Wolfsburg after the end of last season.
However, a move failed to materialise and Draxler has now revealed he expects to remain at the Volkswagen Arena at least until the end of the season.
“I did not get the chance to switch clubs because Wolfsburg did not allow me to leave,” Draxler told Kicker.
“There was a lot of speculation during the summer and some things were true, while others were false. There will likely be more speculation in January, but I will not initiate anything.
“I am only human and what has happened has not left me unaffected. Football is business, though, and you have to focus on the task at hand. It is not always easy, but I know what’s expected from me. I will work hard to do just that.

“We had some differences of opinion, but we have set those apart. There is no issue any more. Of course, it is not easy to forget what happened in the summer, but that is now in the past.”
Draxler’s comments are unlikely to stop speculation over his future, the midfielder’s current deal expires in June 2020 and he is considered one of Germany’s brightest prospects.
His recent comments along with Wolfsburg’s determination to keep him, makes a move to Arsenal or elsewhere look very unlikely for now. Unless of course clubs are willing to get near his release clause which the report claims is close to £62 million.
