Arsenal’s opponents have now been confirmed as Hull City for the FA Cup final next month, after the Tigers saw off League One side Sheffield United in their thrilling 5-3 encounter at Wembley on Sunday.
The Gunners overcame Wigan Athletic on Saturday thanks to a 4-2 penalty shootout victory after the match ended 1-1 after full and after extra time, booking a return ticket to Wembley on May 17th.
United have Hull a massive scare, taking the lead after Yannick Sagbo’s first half strike. However they were unable to become the first side from the third tier to reach The Cup Final since the formation of the Football League in 1888. The Tigers regained the lead when they scored three times in 18 minutes in the second period, essentially booking their place in the final before a goal for either side in the closing minutes made for a thrilling ending.
Arsenal will be confident of overcoming Hull in next months showpiece, however Wigan have proved it will not be an easy task for the north London side. Anything can happen in a Cup final, but Arsene Wenger’s side have the necessary class to finish the job.
