Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna says he is trying to be more decisive in front of the goal after his goal helped the Gunners to a 3-1 victory over Stoke City.
The 30 year old headed home Mesut Ozil’s free-kick midway through the second half to wrap up a 3-1 victory which hoisted Arsenal up to the top of the Premier League table.
The French international praised the resoluteness of the Arsenal squad and says that he is trying to be more decisive in front of goal.
Speaking to Arsenal official website, he said:
I’m trying to be more decisive. Today I tried my luck and it went in. I have to try and be more decisive for my team.
It’s like a gift for the team. When I was injured, they helped me a lot and as long as I can help them, it’s good for me.
It was a very hard game, very physical. We knew it was going to be played until the end of the game and the game was only decided in the second half.

I think we just have the right behaviour on the pitch. We just give 100 per cent and no matter what happens we keep going and looking forward.
The Frenchman admitted his side is well aware that they will have to show their character more and more as the season progresses. He added:
It’s not easy and it’s not going to be easy until the end of the season. But at least we’re here to fight and today we showed some character again. We’ll have to show it more and more.
We’re always together as a team. We show togetherness on the pitch. Even if Stoke had a few chances today, we were strong defensively and we managed to score the chances we created. It’s good.
Sagna had a very inconsistent last year as he came back from two legs breaks. His form was dropping fast and was no longer the player he used to be and every aspect of his game was disappointing. However this season he has returned to his high glory and is even showing us a new talent in his fantastic ability to play a central role in defense.
The French international played couple of games in the center back position this season and impressed every one with his great performances. His pace, strength and good heading meant that opposing players found it very difficult to get past him. But with the return of our injured center backs he has now moved back to his regular position. His performances however meant that Arsenal will now have a valuable back up in the form of Sagna in case some unexpected injuries happen.
Should Arsenal extend Sagna’s contract?. What are your thoughts Gooners?
