Wantaway player and self-proclaimed ‘best striker in the world’ Nicklas Bendtner as well as unwanted goalkeeper Manuel Almunia (who came close to a move in January) are reported to be leaving the Emirates very soon by the Sun, the Telegraph and the Mirror after being frozen out of Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia.
With the Arsenal squad already touching down in Malaysia, the Danish striker has been left behind to negotiate his exit with Arsenal reported to want approximately £12m to let him leave, or at the very minimum £9m.
Although a star player in Denmark and publicly stating he would like to leave the Gunners, Arsenal have had difficulty offloading the Dane due to their high valuation of the player despite reported interest from several clubs.
While there has been interest in England for Bendtner from the likes of Villa, Fulham, Bolton and Newcastle it is reported that he is already negotiating a move abroad with either Borussia Dortmund or Sporting Lisbon, each of whom has already put forward bids for the player reported to be £8m and £5m respectively. Although both bids have been knocked back it is hoped a price can be agreed upon soon.
Similarly, unwanted goalkeeper Almunia is also set to move abroad but rather back to his homeland of Spain or Turkey where he has attracted interest from Malaga, Athletico Madrid and Fernerbache.
With relatively high interest, Arsenal are hopeful of also doing a deal soon but yet again find their asking price of the player causing delays. With one year left on his contract it is expected that he will leave the Emirates for approximately £1m.

As both players are surplus to requirements it is good to see that each have found clubs that are interested in their services and hopefully their sales will add considerable amounts to the transfer kitty. With Wenger’s budget set to rise even more I am hopeful he acts in the transfer market soon and finally acquires some top-class players for the coming season.
