Arsenal have received a fresh injury blow with the news that Francis Coquelin will miss upwards of three weeks. The Frenchman limped off during the 3-3 draw with AFC Bournemouth earlier in the week and Arsene Wenger has confirmed the bad news (via Arsenal.com).
Arsene Wenger added another name to the injury list this morning, confirming that Francis Coquelin will miss three to four weeks with a hamstring injury. It’s a blow for the Gunners who already have Santi Cazorla on the sidelines and Mohamed Elneny away on international duty.
It was hardly the ideal match against AFC Bournemouth earlier in the week. The Gunners were three goals down and had seemingly lost two key players to injuries. Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin were both subbed off and while the centre-back seems to be okay, it’s less good news for Coquelin.
“He will be out for 3-4 weeks,” Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference. “I say 3-4 weeks because he came off, we have a scan today.”
As the boss said, it’s not certain that Coquelin will be out for that long. Arsenal fans will eagerly await the results of the scan later today.
