Botelho is currently on loan with Spanish second division side Rayo Vallecano, his fourth loan spell since his North London arrival in 2007. He was arrested by police officers in Madrid during the early hours of Monday morning after allegedly reversing his into a police vehicle before speeding off.
The Police officers stopped him minutes later where he failed a breathalyser test, and he also is rumoured to not hold an adequate licence to even drive in Spain.
According to reports the situation has left Botelho’s long-term future with the Gunners in serious doubt as he could be released due to ‘gross misconduct’ which would be a breach of his contract. Gunners officials will apparently make a decision on his future after Spanish police have conducted their investigation.
This is not good news for the young Brazilian who has had troubles settling down at various points in his career, such as having an altercation with the Salamancan coach which lead to his early release from his second loan spell at the club. He has made 11 appearances for Rayo Vallecano, scoring once, and it seems the youngster may have blown his chances of succeeding at Arsenal.
