Mesut Özil was absent for our 2-1 FA Cup win over Burnley, with the German playmaker handed a well deserved rest ahead of the midweek clash with Southampton.
He was clearly cheering his side on from the sidelines though, and had a message for the team and the fans following the game.

Özil has been practically ever present this season, so being handed a break is certainly warranted. He’s been in excellent form for the majority of the campaign too, and with injuries to some of our key stars, the World Cup winner’s form has been all the more important to our success.
Arsene Wenger clearly felt we had enough about us to beat Burnley even without the former Real Madrid star, and thankfully he was right. It certainly wasn’t an easy win, but we progressed to the next round nonetheless.
The FA Cup obviously isn’t the Frenchman’s top priority this season, but it would still be superb to go all the way. It would be a phenomenal achievement if we were to win the cup for a third consecutive season, a feat nobody has managed for many, many years.

The Premier League is obviously where our main focus should be though, as this year as arguably the best chance in a long time we’ve had to win it.
