It’s just not Jack Wilshere’s season.
Arsenal transfer news
After only just returning from injury to sit on the bench last week against Crystal Palace, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has had ankle surgery once again, reports Daily Mirror.
Ahead of our match with Everton at the weekend, Wenger thankfully said that Wilshere would be out for only a number of days as he recovers from a minor operation.
“He had a little surgery on his ankle because it was irritating him a bit but it’s a very minor procedure so he will be out for a few days,” revealed Wenger.
The procedure was penciled in for the end of the season but the club and Wilshere have elected to complete it now to stop any discomfort.
“It was planned to be done at the end of the season and because he had an irritation with it we decided to do it now and it’s just a few days,” he said.
The Arsenal boss had said previously that the reason Wilshere was ruled out of the catastrophic match with AS Monaco in mid-week was not due to injury and he would be ready to face Everton at the Emirates this weekend.
However, Wenger has now said that due to the nature of the procedure, he could even be back next weekend and that it will not cause a long-term absence.
He added: “Next weekend will be quick but I don’t know exactly when he will be back but it will be days not weeks”
