Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has lauded team mate Mesut Ozil, stating his belief that the play maker can take the club to the next level.
Ozil has been in excellent form since joining from Real Madrid in a deal rumored to be worth £42.5 million on transfer deadline day, and was instrumental in Arsenal’s 3-1 home win over Stoke City on Sunday.
Gibbs says he has been impressed with Ozil’s early season performances and feels the team has the components needed for a successful season.
Speaking to Arsenal official website, he said:
You look at Mesut, he’s going to come in and take us to the next level.
You’ve got players who have played last year [too, like] Santi. We’ve got a mixture of pace and quality. At the top, Olivier looks like an animal this year so far. I feel like the team is well balanced.
Aaron Ramsey has a golden boot at the moment. He’s always been that kind of player and we knew he had the qualities.

It’s strange because when you look at his play over the last couple of seasons, he’s always been that little bit off from scoring.
It’s like his luck has changed. He’s always had the quality and now he’s become a world-class player. We always knew he had it in him. He’s showing that this year. He’s becoming a vital member of the squad.
I felt like it was an early season blip [against Aston Villa]. We have responded well in all competitions.
It’s important for us to keep that going now. We’re in good form, even from the back end of last season. We need to keep that going.
I’m excited by the quality of the squad. When the players that are out at the moment come back in, it looks positive for us. I feel the team is getting stronger.
Ozil has made an excellent start to his Arsenal career with 4 assists from just a couple of games which is as good a stat it will get. Let alone his assisting capabilities he has added another dimension to this team and his performance against Stoke City proved just that.
The Gunners surprisingly scored all 3 goals against Stoke from set pieces and Ozil was at the fulcrum of all those goals. He has showed how badly Arsenal missed a deadly ball specialist all these years and with just 3 weeks into his career at the Emirates he is already proving his worth.
It will be mouth watering to think how Ozil and the whole team will improve as they get more more game time together. I am sure that other teams will target Ozil and try to double him up but with the likes of Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere and Cazorla alongside Ozil, that would mean it will make space for the rest for other players.
What are your thoughts Gooners?
