Luis Suarez will submit an official transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Arsenal though Liverpool have no intention of selling their most prized asset until his £50 million-plus valuation is met, according to reports in Daily Mail.
The Gunners tabled a £40m plus £1 offer for the controversial Uruguayan hit man on Tuesday evening and while the bid was rejected once again by Liverpool, it triggered a clause in the players contract allowing him to hold talks with Arsene Wenger over a potential switch to the Emirates.
Since Arsenal’s bid, Suarez has told officials at Anfield that he wants to leave the club to join the Gunners but Liverpool have said that he is not for sale and he will have to lodge a formal transfer request to the club in order to have any chance of leaving. This appears to be exactly what Suarez will do as he looks to leave Anfield after two and half years at the club.
This raises the prospect that Suarez will concede bonuses and other financial triggers but, with the player so keen to leave, Liverpool will face a decision over whether to begin negotiating a fee for his sale with Arsenal. The Gunners lodged a second bid for the forward on Monday.
Arsenal are believed to be confident that the Uruguayan is keen on a move to Emirates Stadium, and have now gone into completely uncharted territory to capture him.The £40 million bid is easily a club record for Arsenal’s, with the Gunners desperate to sign a marquee player this summer in order to strengthen their chances of winning the Premier League next season.
Suarez scored 30 goals in 44 appearances last season, but was also on the receiving end of a 10-match ban after he was found guilty of biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic. He will serve the remaining six games of that punishment when the new season kicks off.

Suarez is perhaps the best in the world at his position right now. He would undoubtedly spark Arsenal from top four weak link to legitimate contenders for the English Premier League crown and even Champions League honors.
He is really the complete package good with both feet, comfortable with his head, lethal from set pieces, very skillful and most importantly, will easily fit into the free flowing football ethos that has been enshrined at Arsenal by Wenger.
It looks like it’s going to be a key few days in the Suarez transfer saga and the ball will firmly be in Liverpool’s court if the striker does end up submitting a transfer request and if he does Arsene Wenger will be one step closer to signing the marquee name he craves this summer.
Is Suarez the marquee signing Arsenal fans are waiting for?
