January is approaching, and we’re obviously likely to start hearing a huge number of ridiculous rumours. This may be the most far fetched of them all however, with the Metro (citing Don Balon) claiming Manchester United are planning to make a move for Alexis Sanchez.
The report suggests Louis van Gaal is going to attempt a repeat of Sir Alex Ferguson’s controversial move for Robin van Persie back in 2012, and prise the Chilean away from the Emirates as soon as possible.
The Dutchman is allegedly planning to make Alexis the “cornerstone” of his Manchester United team, and is hoping to convince us to part with him for £50m.
It’s bizarre to think this is even a rumour, and there seems no chance of Alexis going anywhere. He has been absolutely phenomenal since his move from Barcelona, and this move doesn’t seem to benefit anyone.
Arsenal transfer news
Manchester United can no longer even remotely be considered a bigger club than us or a club with better title prospects, so the 26-year-old would have no reason to want to uproot and move up north. We are also in an excellent financial situation, and have no need to sell one of our star players – regardless of the fee.
