The Gunners consolidated top spot in the Barclays Premier table by securing a 2-0 win at manager-less Crystal Palace but will face a tough set of fixtures, starting with the visit of third placed Liverpool on Saturday.
The North London club are set to face Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United in the space of 11 days but the 29 year old insists it is now a case of continuing to improve their game and recording points consistently.
Speaking to the Arsenal official website, he said:
We wanted to come back as quickly as possible as a strong unit. What we showed was good enough to respond. But there will be more tests to come and that will be crucial for the rest of the season.
We want to surprise people more and more, that is what we need to do but we do not look too much at the other sides. We are in a strong and interesting position, so we are aware of it and try to keep it – but that is the difficult thing, to keep it.
The German international also praised Wojciech Szczesny who made two world class saves after the Gunners were down to ten men to keep them in the game. He added:
We had a decent goalkeeper as well, he saved three times when they were in a decent position.
We do not need the goalkeeper that much, but in those situations we do need him desperately. He did a good job, but the whole team did – and that is his job, to save us sometimes.
Arsenal have made an excellent start to the new season as they have just lost 2 games out of 15 and are top of the table in both the League and their Champions League group. However November promises to be a true test for the Gunners as they face Liverpool, Manchester United and surprise package Southampton in their next three league games, with a crucial Champions League visit to Borussia Dortmund sandwiched in-between and Chelsea in the League Cup this Tuesday.

These tough run of fixtures will definitely prove to be a stern test for the Gunners and will test their title credentials. The North London club have largely been impressive this season and the next month will be decisive in deciding their fate this campaign. If Arsenal can still stay at the top of the table after these rounds of fixtures then I think we will have an excellent chance of ending the trophy drought.
