Nacho Monreal has heaped praise on Hector Bellerin after the young Spaniard’s impressive display against Hull City. Bellerin started in the Hull game and his performance was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise flaccid performance by the Gunners.
Monreal himself did more than okay and didn’t look out-of-place at centre back. That is not to say he can be a fourth choice centre back but he is more of a very short-term solution.
Speaking to Arsenal player, Monreal reflected on Saturday’s game and says Arsenal’s superiority should have yielded them all the three points.
It’s a game which feels like we’ve lost two points, rather than won one. I thought we were very superior throughout the whole match, and we did all we could to get the three points. Hull took their chances well but we’re leaving with a bit of a bitter taste in our mouths.
Monreal acknowledged Bellerin’s performance and believes his compatriot has a great future ahead of him.
[Hector] had a great performance. He’s been training with us all season, so we know exactly what he can do and what type of potential he has. He took his opportunity in pre-season and he did it again on Saturday. He had a great game. He’s very young and he has a long way to go in his development. Given that he is so young and he does have such potential, I think he’s going to have a great career ahead of him.
Bellerin is likely to continue as a right back as long as Koscielny is out. A great opportunity for the young fella to stake his claim and establish himself as regular first team player.
