PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has revealed why Kylian Mbappe turned down a host of European clubs including Arsenal to sign for PSG (via The Metro).
He was the most-coveted player on the planet this summer and with good reason. Kylian Mbappe is one of the brightest young talents to emerge in some time.
The Frenchman lit up Ligue 1 last season with Monaco and after his big money move to PSG is looking to do the same in a new shirt.
Now, Paris Saint Germain club president Nasser Al Khelaifi has revealed why his side beat out competition from the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid to secure Mbappe’s signature.
“It was very competitive, trust me,” he told The Telegraph. “Some other clubs offered him more than us. Every big club wanted him.
“But we explained to him our project and the ambition of the club and he’s French, he’s a Parisian and he had the club in his heart.

“He wanted to stay in France and defend the French colours in the Champions League. It’s deep inside him.
“He wants to write history here and he has history here already – you saw the pictures of him [at his unveiling] when he was here 10 years ago? A picture does not lie. He loves the club and it’s his dream to play for Paris Saint-Germain.”
There’s no doubt that with Mbappe and the signing of Neymar PSG have one of the best sides in Europe right now. They’ll be hoping to topple Real Madrid’s domination in the Champions League and Mbappe will have to be on top form to do that. Given Arsenal’s current situation, it’s easy to see why he chose not to join the Gunners.
