Arsenal have an unusually big, injury-free squad at present and it is set to become even larger with the return of Abou Diaby and Andre Santos to training next week, while Giroud and Rosicky are back in contention for selection ahead of the home match against Newcastle this weekend.
Diaby has been out injured since the Chelsea match on the 29th September, and while Wenger consistently said he was ‘three weeks away’ for a couple of months, the Frenchman is finally nearing a first team return.
With the busy festive season in full swing and the Gunners usually an injury-prone side, the amount of fit players is a welcomed boost, and Wenger will need all his top players with fixtures a plenty and vital in the New Year.
Arsene Wenger revealed the following team news ahead of Saturday’s clash with Newcastle at the Emirates:
[on the latest updates] We should not have any new injuries from our last game. Giroud and Rosicky should be available again. They were sick at Wigan.
[on Abou Diaby and Andre Santos] They should be coming back into training with the squad next week.
[on the injury situation with only Fabianski out] It is unusual, especially at this period of the season. It is down to the continuing good work we are doing behind the scenes at the Club. We hope that it continues because it is important to go into January with a full squad and we will be losing Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The return of Diaby will be welcomed as the League edges past the half-way mark and with an established trio of Cazorla, Arteta and Wilshere fit and playing well he will not be rushed into a comeback.

Options in midfield are starting to stack up which is exactly what should happen at a top club like Arsenal, and when Diaby is fit he could potentially be rotated in for Arteta or Wilshere to add more physicality and steel to the midfield.
