Henry’s deal was finalized on Friday and the star striker who has scored 42 goals in Europe is set to be involved again as the Gunners search for their first piece of silverware in 7 years.
There was some doubt as to whether Henry could be included in the competition, but he has been deemed elegible to compete
Wenger told Arsenal’s official website:
Yes, he will be [in the squad], I have given Vito Mannone out on loan to Hull and Thierry will take his place.
He has good memories of playing in Milan, where he scored three goals against Inter Milan. It is logical [to include him].
This is good news for the Gunners as it may enable them to rest Robin Van Persie if required. The main question that remains is whether Henry will indeed show the class that Wenger and Arsenal’s first team has been talking up.
The Frenchman has admitted that he will most likely be benched for majority of the loan with Van Persie taking centre stage, but perhaps he could operate in a Bergkamp-type role and become the second striker? What do you think? How regularly do you think Henry should play and should he just be a replacement for Van Persie or more? Comment below
