Arsene Wenger has confirmed Laurent Koscielny will miss Tuesday evenings Premier League tie with Swansea due to a calf injury sustained against Chelsea.
The extent and length of time on the sidelines is still unknown, but it’s a damaging blow after a big loss over the weekend. Thomas Vermaelen will slot in alongside Mertesacker, with Hector Bellerin coming into the squad to provide more depth at right back.
The outcome of the Gibbs-Ox red card debacle is undecided and will be clarified prior to the Swansea fixture. The left back shouldn’t have any troubles being available, however Oxlade-Chamberlain will be nervous over any ban for his deliberate handball.
Wenger revealed the following team news on Arsenal’s official website:
[on the team news] We have lost Laurent Koscielny for Tuesday’s game with a calf problem. I don’t know how long he will be out for. He has a scan today [Monday]. Everyone else should be available.
[on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] There is a question mark about Chamberlain. The situation over his suspension will be decided today. After that I will make a decision. At the moment he is in the squad. Right now only Koscielny is out of the squad and he has been replaced by Hector Bellerin. We expected Kieran Gibbs’ suspension to be overturned.
